23 July 2012
EMI and EUKN are cooperating strongly with UN-HABITAT to have an exchange of knowledge on urban development and metropolitan areas also in other parts of the world. Bi-monthly, EMI and EUKN will, in close cooperation with the UN-HABITAT office, incorporate articles in their newsletters from the UN-HABITAT database on timely issues of urban development in other parts of the world. ‘Shrinking cities’ is an excellent first example of this cooperation. As 60 percent of all shrinking cities of the developing world are located in China this article is dedicated to the specific situation of shrinking cities in China.
